STATEMENT
Irene Lumley
is an artist who describes herself as someone who ‘makes images with’ rather
than ‘makes images of’ her
sitters. Her work aims to explore relationships. She further seeks to
interpret and express the relationship that can exist between artist
and sitter.
The aims of her work are to embrace the stillness and tenderness within
the frame; to support others to express themselves through art; to nurture
trust and to use a gentle approach to aid the expression of issues that
are otherwise hard to make known. |
